Local Missionary Partners
In January 2016, our church welcomed a Christian Syrian refugee family from Damascus. The Azzam family arrived here as part of the initiative to settle 25,000 Syrian refugees in Canada. The Lord has given this family a heart to continue the ministry they were involved in back home which is to see Arabs reached with the gospel. They are actively looking to use their knowledge of the Arabic language and Syrian heritage as a door to sharing the good news of Jesus Christ. A portion of the funds raised to date for the Refugee Ministry at Hope Oakville has gone towards supporting this family and other local initiatives to see the love of Christ extended to Arabs living in our region. Sam and Christine are actively looking for people and other local churches to help support their ministry. For more information or to support them financially please check out their web page
Over the last number of years, we have experienced an increase in Arabic speaking attendees of our church, including Arabic speaking refugees. In order to best serve this growing demographic, we have put together a volunteer team of translators who live-translate our weekend worship and preaching into Arabic.
Arabic translation will be offered during the Sunday 5pm service on an as-needed basis. Contact compassion@
