Romania Team Update 2

Canada to Romania and Back Again

The week felt like a whirlwind and here we are home, having seen God’s faithfulness at work as he builds his church on the other side of the world. Going into our trip our team spent a lot of time praying around the verse “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all.” John 6:63a That was our week, the Spirit acting faithfully in the lives at camp and in the lives of our team to see His gospel go forward, so let us give you a short glimpse into our week in Romania.

We arrived Saturday in Braila to meet up with our partner church Harvest Metanoia Braila to prepare for the week ahead of us. The church there is truly family. Our weekend was filled with worshipping and connecting with the families and youth leaders that would be joining us for the week. Early Monday morning we headed to Corbu, Constanta for a five-day youth camp. Our week was filled with a lot of fun and laughter as we played wide games, did crafts, kayaked, and swam in the Black Sea. As our fun transitioned we became a community who could play together and pray together.

Our morning sessions were a time filled with worship and exploring what the Lord had for us to learn from the Sermon on the Mount, in Matthew 6. The students tackled questions around issues of lust, anger, revenge, promises, and love. Much discussion was had about these things being heart issues and getting to the root of our sin. Through testimonies in the evenings the truths learned from the morning were seen as struggles we all are battling through, but finding victory over them in Jesus.

Many of the students expressed a deep desire to pursue God with a greater discipline that would not just disappear after a week of camp. The students are seeking more accountability to help in the growth of their faith. Thank you for your love, prayers, and support. Continue to pray with us that the Lord will grow in the hearts of these youth a deeper desire to follow him daily.

Colossians 2: 6
Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.
