John 15:4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.
Dear Family and Friends,
We greet you in the precious name of Jesus Christ.
Fast and Pray: Wednesdays the core team is encouraged to fast and pray. Last Wednesday John and I went to town to do some business. After our errands and fast, we were hungry and decided to go for somewhere to eat. The first two fast food places had no more food left. We decided to go to the mall food court, they also were sold out. At this time John would settle for anything. We went to the juice counter and ordered two smoothies, it was very filling and did the job.
God’s Timing! Opportunity:
We had eaten in this mall before, usually in the cafeteria. This time I decided to sit outside at the picnic table. I asked some young men if we could share the table with them, they said it was okay and we joined them.
All the talk at this time on the island is about Carnival. They explained to us how it originated during the time of the slave emancipation. After they finished, we explained to them that there is nothing good about Carnival. Freedom is a good thing but not the scary, or violent and satanic portrayal that is the highlight of Carnaval. It is dishonoring to God and His Word. We shared the gospel with them. Matthew 7:13 – “Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many.” We gave them the invitation to make a choice which road they want to be on. The broad road which leads to destruction, or the narrow road which leads to Jesus Christ.
One of the boys had some form of religion, another studied Buddhism, the other two had no form of Bible teaching. We gave them parental advice, some had teary eyes and they thank us. We prayed with them trusting that the Holy Spirit will convict them to repentance. They were touched, we took their names and information and told them we would be in touch after the Carnival.
Thousands of people are here to take part in this satanic event. Most of the churches have youth camp, some leave town and go into a remote place with their families, others camp out from the temptation.
“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers.”
John meets one on one with a young man this week who recently made a commitment to accept Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour. The angels in heaven rejoice over sinners who surrender his life to the Lord. Thank you Jesus!
Harvest Grenada Visitors:
In a few days we are expecting a leadership team of four from Harvest West Olive, Michigan. We are excited and thankful to God that we are not alone in this work. We are children of God and we need each other. They’re coming to do some assessments and training of the core team. Harvest Grenada has now secured the use of a great facility for the launch. It is a large auditorium that is generally used for concerts and conferences.
I (Doreen) celebrated my birthday last Thursday, with my brother, sister, and their children. I had a very nice time over dinner overlooking the water. It has been forty-eight years since I celebrated my birthday with my siblings. I must say I missed our children and also the grandchildren’s happy birthday song. They are a choir of six and they sound lovely. The evening was very relaxed and entertaining with live music. It was indeed a treat.
I praise and thank God for giving me another year and I will continue to praise Him for each day. I also praise God for the opportunity to serve him in Grenada. He has blessed me abundantly in ways I could not imagine. Age is just a number—do not let it stop you from crossing the ocean for the Lord!
Please praise God with us for:
- Healing in John’s back and Doreen’s neck
- For a great time and bonding with family
- Health improvement in some of the members
- This big answer to prayer: a place to launch Harvest Grenada
- Those who made a commitment to follow Jesus
Please join in prayer with us for:
- Core group members
- Health for Doreen’s family here
- Revival among the people of Grenada
- Satanic attacks on the core team
- Committed men
- Spiritual awakening among the young people
- Boldness and opportunity to meet people and to share the gospel
- Worship from the heart and not with our heads
Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
Oh how we have experienced sweet fellowship with our Saviour who gives us all we need day by day!
