Youth

Youth Ministry begins this week. We will alternate between Jr and Sr High meeting physically in the building. This week, September 23, Jr High will meet in-person and the Sr Highs will start the following Wednesday. Jr and Sr High will also be available online every single week. If you’re a student in Grade 6, we need you to register below so we know you’re coming.

Hope Youths’ mission is to help students in a growing relationship with Jesus.  Through the Word, worship and small group time with fellow students and leaders, our desire is to see them encouraged, convicted and challenged in their walk with the Lord.

We meet every Wednesday evening, with in building meetings alternating weeks for our two age groups. Junior High, grade 6-8, one week and Senior High, grade 9-12 the following week. When your student is not “on” for a week, they have the ability to live stream the message and meet their small groups online, organized by their leaders. When students are in the building we do ask that in accordance with Halton guidelines everyone wears a mask.

Doors to the church will open at 645pm, and the evening will end promptly at 830pm. Drop off is in the front of the building, with pickup at the side exit. Due to covid related precautions no parents will be able to come into the building. Thank you for your understanding with this. If you have questions or concerns, please know we wish we could talk in person and would love for you to reach out to us (details at the bottom).

We will be posting regularly on social media, there you will find our weekly updates so that you will be informed when your student is meeting in church or online as well as suggested Bible readings and other Hope Youth related things. You can find us on Instagram, Facebook as well as Youtube

Another great way to stay up to date with what is going on, is by joining our email list to receive our weekly emails with all the links/updates that you will need. If you are not subscribed yet, please fill out the form on this page.

There are many questions that come along with this new season, so please take the time to read through the FAQ’s below. If you have any further questions or concerns, we would love for you to contact us at youth@hopeoakville.ca.

FAQ's

How often does Hope Youth meet?

During this Covid season we are operating with a hybrid style of both online and in person meetings. We are alternating weeks between our two age groups (Junior High and Senior High) with each coming biweekly to attend in church, with the other weeks being live streamed and meeting their small groups online.

What days of the week do you meet?

We meet each Wednesday evening.  The doors open at 645pm and the students will leave promptly at 830pm.  There will be no lingering in the church building at this time.

Is my student required to wear a mask?

Yes, under provincial guidelines we are required to wear masks within all public areas of our church.

Will there be proper social distancing?

Yes, just as in our church services students will be placed 3 seats apart. Siblings may sit together, but we are encouraging students to sit in the same area as the rest of their age group. When they meet in the classrooms for small groups, chairs will be placed proper distance apart and traffic flow will be encouraged.

May my student come early and stay late to socialise?

With Covid restrictions in place, we need to have students come in no earlier than 645pm and leave promptly at 830pm. They are welcome to hang out outside the building if they so desire, and are allowed by parents. We continue to encourage social distancing outside as well.

What does my student need to bring along to Youth?

Please send your students prepared with Bible, pen and notebook. Unfortunately we can not supply these items at this time.

May parents enter the building or attend the meeting?

No, due to Covid restrictions at this time we need to ask all parents and caregivers to remain outside the building.

How are the small groups determined?

We place students into small groups based on their grade and gender. For example, grade 6 girls, grade 6 boys. There are usually 4 groups in each grade and gender category.

Who are the leaders?

Leaders are typically younger leaders within our church that have applied, been interviewed, received training and have a heart to love their students and point them to Christ.

Does my student need to check in each time?

Yes. This is very important, especially during Covid. First time students will need to check in at the kiosk the first time they come, following weeks they must check in with their small group leader who will take attendance.

Can my student bring a friend?

Yes please! All are welcome!.

Do you do any special outings?

In a typical year, yes we would have various retreats throughout the year. So far this has not been the case due to Covid.

What does Hope Youth need most of all?

We need your prayers. We can do nothing apart from the working of the Holy Spirit, so we ask you to hold this ministry up in prayer. Ask the Lord to bless, ask the Lord to move, to transform hearts to become more like Jesus. Be an encourager to both your students, their friends and their small group leader.
