Discover your role in reaching the nations

GO TIME GLOBAL: MISSIONS

God calls every believer to play a part in expanding His kingdom around the world. You’re a participant in the “greater story”— God’s plan to bring redemption to all peoples.

But where do you start? Why global mission work? What opportunities are even out there? Get answers to those questions and more below.

And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."

The Great Commission from Matthew 28:18-20
WHAT IS MISSIONS?

Kingdom-advancing work for Jesus Christ on a global scale

We believe missions stem from Jesus’ directive to make disciples of all nations. As exemplified by the early church in Acts, this command is accomplished through establishing and supporting local churches around the world.

Carried out by missionaries, church planters, and partners, mission efforts include:

  • Planting new churches
  • Strengthening existing churches
  • Training and supporting pastors
  • Translating the Bible
  • And more

At Hope Oakville, we steward our church’s resources (people, gifts, skills, finances), because the global Great Commission is for everyone.

Why Global Mission Work?

The Great Commission is a command for every believer — including you

The mission of Hope Bible Church is to glorify God by fulfilling the Great Commission in the spirit of the Great Commandment.

Why? Because the global Great Commission is for everyone. Which means that you have a responsibility to engage with the Great Commission, so that:

  • Jesus Christ would be glorified among the nations (Revelation 7:8-12)
  • The lost would come to Christ (1 Timothy 2:3-4, Colossians 1:13–14)
  • The health of the church be strengthened (Ephesians 3:20–21)

Go Time Trips: Mid to Long Term

Long-term international opportunities

A long-term missionary is someone who commits two or more years to multiply the gospel, disciples, and churches amongst the nations. This could be done as a vocational missionary or as a marketplace missionary who leverages their job, education, or retirement to serve on a church-planting team.

If you feel the Lord is leading you to serve as a long-term missionary, or if you have any questions, we would love to connect with you.
